I stumbled across Star Sand by Roger Pulvers this morning, never really heard of this book nor the author before but found them though NetGallery. Gave it a try and I finished the book in one go, what can I say that could give justice to this book. It is really well written. The story revolve around a diary found after the end of the Second World War in Japan, it tells the story of a girl who meets two soldiers while looking for star stand in Japan. Those two soldiers became friends beside the facts that one is Japanese and the other is American, both had enough of the violence surrounding the war. This book is written with a lot of sensitivity, poesy, and attention to details. Yet it remains coherent with the atmosphere the main characters are experiencing. This book is very pleasant to read and I will look into reading a bunch of other books in the author’s bibliography. I am glad I have found out about this book and will happily read it again!
